Visiting a non-Muslim family to offer condolences or help at their home is fine, including offering words of guidance if asked; attending the actual funeral proceedings where people call on other than Allah, cremate the body, or perform other religious rites is not permitted, nor is speaking there except to call them to Islam. A pastor or pandit should not be given a platform to invoke other than Allah or quote non-Quranic scripture at a Muslim wake house or funeral. Muslims can be neighborly and cordial with non-Muslims in other ways that do not blur the line between worship of Allah and other than Allah.
