Guidelines and Methodology

Questions are answered by authorized scholars.

Every published answer is attributed to an authorized scholar of Jamiyyatul Ulamaa Guyana. No one else answers on their behalf, and there is no way for a reader to answer a question here.

A scholar may answer a question or refrain from answering it.

Refraining is a normal and deliberate outcome. A question may go unanswered where a scholar judges that it should not be answered in this setting.

Guidance primarily follows Hanafi fiqh.

The Hanafi position is the default for answers published here. It is the starting point, not the only position the scholars recognise.

You may request guidance according to another madhhab.

Say so when you submit your question. Published answers record which madhhab they follow, so you can see it before you act on one.

Answers are concise.

An answer gives the ruling and what you need in order to act on it. The brevity is intended: there is no minimum length and no obligatory long explanation.

A detailed matter may be referred to the Darul Iftaa.

Some questions turn on personal circumstances and need individual review rather than a short public answer.

This is a place for learning, not for debate.

Read the guidance, and submit your own question privately where it does not cover your situation. There are deliberately no public comments, no reply threads, no votes and no rankings on this site, so there is nothing here to argue with or to win.

No political debates.

Political argument is outside what this service exists to do, and questions framed as political disputes are not taken up.

No sectarian disputes.

This is not a place to argue one group against another. Questions seeking a ruling are welcome; questions seeking ammunition are not.

No promotion or fundraising without approval.

Advertisements, appeals for funds, circulated messages and unrelated material are not carried here unless the organisation has approved them.

Privacy must be respected.

Questions are submitted privately, and a published answer never carries the questioner's name. Do not attempt to identify a questioner, and do not republish someone else's question in a way that would identify them. If something published here raises a concern, report it rather than discussing it publicly.
