Answer
For an interfaith conference: if the purpose is to debate truth and falsehood and evaluate each religion's claims, attendance is permissible; if the purpose is to present each religion as equally valid or part of a transcendental unity, it is not. Interfaith collaboration on shared social issues is not necessarily problematic as long as it doesn't affirm the truth of each religion. Attending a jhandi ceremony or an explicitly religious Hindu motorcade is not permissible.
