If a non-Muslim, wanting to maintain good relations, invites a Muslim for iftar and prayer at a place with idols, what should the Muslim's approach be?

Answer
The Muslim must decline politely and respectfully, expressing appreciation for the gesture but explaining that, while he would love to collaborate on social, environmental, educational, political, and humanitarian matters of mutual concern, he cannot on religious grounds accept an invitation to a place with idols and symbols dedicated to worshipping other than Allah. This is not because he does not want cordial interaction with non-Muslims, but due to one of Islam's core tenets and the dictate of its pure monotheism. Hopefully they understand and respect his position.
