If one just had it in mind to fast tomorrow but woke up at 6:00am and never made the literal intention before Fajr, can one go about fasting?

Answer

*Wa alikumus salaam.* Although it is better to make the intention before the time of Fajr begins, it is allowed to make it up until midday on the same day. Therefore, you can observe the fast, provided you have not eaten or drunk anything.
