Itikaf and caring for a sick father

Question

Answer

If it is possible for him to make arrangements for his father to be cared for, or to put measures in place so that his father's needs can be fulfilled during this period, then he should do so. However, if there is no alternative and he is the only person available to look after his father, this will be considered a necessity. In that case, he may leave the masjid strictly to attend to his father's needs and then return without delay. His Sunnah Muʾakkadah Iʿtikaf will still remain valid.
