Kaffarah for intentionally missing a Ramadan fast

Question

If someone intentionally misses a fast in Ramadan, must they fast two consecutive months, or is this a difference of opinion? I was told they should repent and make up the missed fast, and that the kaffarah (60 consecutive days) is required when the fast is broken through intercourse.
