Leading taraweeh while reciting from a copy of the Quran

Is it permissible to lead the taraweeh salaah and read from the Holy Quran (mushaf)?

Answer
According to the Shafi'i and Hanbali madhhabs, it is permissible; according to many fuqaha', permissible but makruh (resembling the People of the Book); according to Imam Abu Hanifah, impermissible and invalidates the prayer. In a mixed congregation including Hanafi followers -- almost universal in Guyana -- one must not lead while reciting from the mushaf, to accommodate the Hanafi congregants.
