Minimum number of times to perform istikharah

Question

What should someone expect when performing istikharah, for example to know if someone is best suited for them? Does constantly thinking of the person count as an answer, or is that just the nafs?

Answer

Make istikharah a minimum of seven times if the decision is not pressing; more if possible. You may receive a strong sign, like a dream, or something may occur that diverts you from or nudges you toward one of the options. If none of this happens, you will experience an ease of heart toward one option. If still nothing happens, then according to Ibn 'Abbas, as long as istikharah was made seven times, whatever decision is made afterward may be trusted as correct. *And Allah knows best.*
