Answer

This is very unfortunate. This WhatsApp group is not the most conducive forum to clarify all of the theological, legal, and Islamic-spiritual principles involved, but Muslims must avoid entering the places of worship of the mushrikin, except in cases of dire need or extreme necessity where there is real benefit for Muslims or to save lives at risk. Multicultural harmony does not demand the erasure of a clear distinction between us and others -- we can be humane, respectful, sociable, and neighbourly without compromising the fundamentals of our deen. That the actors are Arab does not change the ruling; they acted on political rather than religious considerations. May Allah safeguard us from the erosion of faith.
