**Q: What is the status of Sadaqatul Fitr?** A: Waajib.

**Q: On whom is it compulsory?** A: Every Muslim who has the value of nisaab on the day of Eid after subtracting debts.

**Q: Is it waajib on minor children?** A: Yes, discharged on their behalf by their father/guardian, or from their own savings if they have any.

**Q: To whom can it be given?** A: To Muslims who are zakaat-eligible.

**Q: When should it be discharged?** A: Best after dawn on the Day of Eid until going to the Eid salaah venue, though it may be discharged before or after this time without delay.

**Q: Must it be discharged in cash?** A: No, it can be given in kind.

**Q: Should it be given to an organisation or an individual directly?** A: Preferable to hand it to the needy personally, though giving it to an organisation is permissible if discharged timeously.

**Q: What if an organisation discharges it long after the prescribed time?** A: The organisation was appointed wakeel (representative); the Fitrah is only discharged when they actually distribute the money.
