Aqiqah obligation for a new revert

A person who embraces Islam is not required to perform ʿAqiqah for themselves. It is neither obligatory upon them, nor is it necessary for them to make it up. *وَالْعَقِيقَةُ سُنَّةٌ، وَهِيَ أَنْ يُذْبَحَ عَنِ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ، وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ* — "ʿAqiqah is a Sunnah. It is to slaughter two sheep for a boy and one for a girl." An act that is not obligatory is not required to be made up later: *مَا لَيْسَ بِوَاجِبٍ لَا يَلْزَمُ قَضَاؤُهُ* — "That which is not obligatory is not required to be made up." Also, ʿAqiqah is originally a rite connected to the birth of a child and is performed by the parents/guardian, not by the individual themselves later in life.
